Parks

Parks are some of the last remaining undeveloped spaces in Boise. Parks are ribbons of green amid asphalt and concrete in a city experiencing phrenetic development.

Throughout America, city departments of parks & recreation buy properties for “parks” not for developers. Without passage of the Boise Parks Protection Initiative the city may continue to raid parks and open space for development.

ENVIRONMENTAL & ECOLOGICAL BENEFITS

We need to preserve parks for the sake of our city, for the sake of our future, and for the sake of the variety of wildlife in and around the area. Great cities offer citizens more than a place to work, sleep, drive, and park a car. Great Cities have great parks for all residents to enjoy.

HOUSING DEVELOPMENT PLANS

The city wants to wash their hands of many parks. To repeat, seven of the properties that are under review for housing development are owned by the city’s Parks & Recreation Department. This is not the function of parks & recreation departments throughout America.

With the commitment and initiative of devoted people like you – people from all around the city – we believe we can change the path the city has decided to take with its parks. Together, we can project the voice, the strength, and the resolve needed to save parks. We must stand up as one and ensures the passage of the Parks Protection Initiative.
